In the stultifying desert of New Mexico, a single mother (Brooke Adams) raises her two teenage daughters, Shade and Trudi, (played by Fairuza Balk and Ione Skye respectively). The girls’ deepest wish is to leave town. Shade likes to escape with extravagant fantasies while Trudi is a rebellious teen. Will the girls eventually be driven away by the lack of opportunity?
